Hey ya know.. I'm just passing on info from my regular business. I'm a welding engineering technologist/journeyman welder/fitter and work for eSAB in Ontario as an applications engineer. Material / Filler metal selection and welding procedure development are part of what I do each and every day for structural, ASME (pressure vessel), and Automotive type facitilties. Mostly in the SubArc and GMAW/FCAW/MCAW processes.

If MPI does not use a 409 or some other ferritic material..that's just fine too.

Not looking to stir the pot at all. I know this is an old thread, but for up pipes, would using 409ss pipes and 304ss bellows with a liner be ok for a stock to mild truck? IE how long would this last? The truck rarely if ever sees over 1100* on the pyro. Thanks guys.

i think they will be fine. stock pipes see more heat than that IF your pyro readings are from the exhaust manifold and not the down pipe.

Glad to hear that. I was worried most about the bellows. Any suggestion as far as mig wire/gas or tig filler rod? The flanges will be mild steel. I have argon and CO2 at the house but no mixed gas.
