And mines a Ford so I even tow 20k+ without taking her off the big tune with no worries of kamikaze pistons

It was a joke if you couldn't tell by the smiley faces and ww2 referance. I owe my career and business to the Duramax and this forum I stumbled upon in 2010 after melting down my lb7. I looked for a 15+ Duramax last year when I was in the market. Around here you pretty much can't touch one for less than 45k. So I went with the next best thing, a 15+ Ford I picked up for 28k. I am not a brand loyalist. They all have their good and bad areas.

This isnít the only time youíve thrown the ford plug in there. There are quite a few other posts from you as well. The point is, itís time to knock it off. We know you started in a Dmax but this is a Dmax forum. Stop stirring the pot

To bad the LMLs are absolute garbage. Iíd take an LB7, LLY, LBZ LMM, or L5P over an LML CP4 equipped hunk of junk any day.

I truly feel sorry for LML owners.

Are you high?

Your saying that LB7ís which were and are injector eaters unless swapped for SAC style and still a huge pia to change them, Head gasket eating and overheating LLYís, LBZ piston cracking and crank breaking engines or an un-tuneable L5P are better choices? IMO itís pick your poison.

Anything classic body style is unfortunately tough to find in great condition and are all outdated now when it comes to the bells and whistles. At least with the last 2 years of the LML you get all the fancy stuff the newest trucks have and if youíre truly scared of the fuel system when theyíre off warranty you can cp3 swap for less than a set of LB7 injectors. I havenít met any disappointed Ď15/Ď16 LML owners and have had 3 offers personally from people wanting to buy my Ď16.

A new cp4, I injectors and rails are still cheaper then a set of lb7 sticks. We are starting to see a huge amount of lbz and lmm injector failures. I like the older ones cause they are simple and the box sits lower. But the newer ones tow way better. They all have ups and downs.
I love listen to people about not having to make payments. Payments only last 6 years and after that you still have a great truck instead of buying some else's problem.

The LMLs are going to be an absolute wiring/electronic nightmare in a few years. Already starting to see it.

I predict the LB7s will be on the road long after most LMLs have been parted out or crushed....

Harness rubbing on ac line is super common and map sensor wires break cause of the tension.

I was probably harsh in my statements regarding the LML platform. I can see my comments upset some people.

Iím just very disappointed in the amount of issues I see in them. And most are crippling issues (from the owner/driving standpoint) that are from something that was either poorly engineered or tested. Iím just not impressed at all. I know a lot of people really like the towing abilities they offer and of course any of the newer vehicles offer some nice creature comforts over the older trucks.

But Iím sorry, Iím not going to listen to or give much weight to people bragging about the reliability of any vehicle when they trade them off before the factory warranty is up.........

The LML platform can and does perform fairly well after a large amount of money is spent deleting them, and doing a CP3 conversion. Unfortunately they need at least 100 more horsepower then any of the previous Duramax equipped trucks to perform as well on the street or drag strip due to their weight.

The other thing Iím very uneasy about is the boxed frame. Anyone that owns one and lives in the ďsalt beltĒ should probably keep that in mind.

The older trucks are more user friendly if your actually using them for work, easier to diagnose and repair, and donít have to worry about that piece of crap CP4 pump ruining their day.

If I hurt anyoneís feelings that owns an LML Iím
sorry. I just find it very frustrating that every new generation of Duramax got better and more reliable then the previous one (emissions equipment aside as they were forced to do that) until they got to the LMLs. Anyone who is being honest will admit head gaskets on them fail almost as easily and frequently as LLYs, and the CP4 failures and the resulting damage is quite frankly unacceptable from a company like GM. Especially when the CP3 pump was SO reliable.

Plain and simple when you consider how much time and experience GM has had with the Duramax/Allison platform the LML is extremely disappointing. Hopefully the L5P is better.
