Default Exhaust Brake via T/H

So I was getting bored and have a couple buddies with old iron looking to ditch their Hypertechs and Superchips so thought wth Iíll give it a whirl and hook them up.

To my sadness my external hard drive with all my old tunes has shit the bed so Iím trying to remember how to do all this as itís been about 8 years since I did any real messing around with tuning.

I remember there was a way to incorporate an exhaust brake in a single tune that only activates in tow haul but I canít remember how it was done. If anyone knows and doesnít mind helping me out Iíd appreciate it. Either here or in PM.

Thanks

I don't think there's a way to make T/H force it into turbo brake mode.

Either wire up an external switch like 2004LB7 posted, or adjust the vane tables

Ya Iím just going to make a dsp5 with it in there and he can use his cts2 to change tunes then.

No messing around with that shitty ecm connector then.

Iím sure it can be done but maybe itís something you need a hex editor to do. A gm tech buddy of mine went to throw a switch in a customers lmm for the exhaust brake but it wouldnít work. With the switch off it did though but only in t/h. He watched it with a tech 2 and it was for sure working. The customer bought it used and it must have been tuned by the p/o. It didnít have a dsp switch either.

Anyways thanks guys.

If you have a customer that's going to be picky about when/ how the brake engages, better off to let them control it with a toggle switch. You're going to have to mess with the ECM connector anyway with a dsp5

If you set the veins so they don't close until 2500, it will hardly ever engage unless you're in tow/haul mode. That's how I did it for single tunes and never had anybody say it kicked in except when in tow/haul mode.

You donít in lb7/lly. You can switch it with a cts2 or the like.

And I donít tune for customers. I do it for fun for buddies. And maybe drink a case of beer they bought with them.

You don't for LB7 in any case since they're a wastegated turbo, vgt was lly+.

The CTS2 will only work for LB7/LLY, LBZ/LMM have to be hardwired.
