It is. It's a 1943 model and runs great. Love to hear them run.

What do you put over the muffler on a tractor to keep the turbo from spinning? I shipped one to a guy in Kansas City, Missouri once and just stuffed a rag in it.

how is the turbo supposed to spin if the air has nowhere to go? it is not like the wind has enough force to open the valves, right? unless i am missing something here

I see what you're saying. The intake/exhaust valve would have to be open on the same cylinder. If it is you got a problem anyways. Better to be safe than sorry, especially if it isn't your own that you're hauling or shipping. You see those yellow turbo covers out there as well. I guess it keeps rain out too when hauling.

They duct taped it... Said he's lost couple turbos on skid steers that way...
Outside major exhaust leaks between engine and turbo or an extremely worn out engine I don't see it physically mechanically possible
Only other option would be rain and exhaust is all above the engine, thus allowing it to drain into the engine and oil... Over a long period of time... This will be kicked of tonight or tomorrow AM and clear Skies to central Michigan

No, we have lost turbos on loaders and dozers during long rig moves, air goes down the exhaust and allows it to spin without oil, it does happen, I've also seen several air boosters with no rain caps sit for long periods of time and get full of water, and trashed the turbo and ****ed up the cyl walls. We just slapped turbos on them and ran them.
