Any idea what rear gear it has? I think you could get 4.10 or 3.73 with those vs only 3.73 in the Dmax. Both of mine were 3.73 and I never got better than 11 or so empty around town. In 2006 and maybe 2007 they could be had with the 6sp Ali just like the Dmax's. I've always wondered what mpg they were able to achieve.

Brother had an 01 with the Allison behind it. It would wax a stock lb7, no contest. I'd say running an lbz would close. His burnt oil too, but he always towed with it so we caulked it up to running it hard. Best we got on a hwy trip to PA was 13mpg, I believe it was a 3.73 rear.

This guy must have not liked his engine or cared lol. Found this today

I edited this because I guess I'm bias. When it comes to oil filters I'm factory or wix racing all the way. When I was younger we blew apart the inside of a stp filter on a motor. Never liked them since. Wix never blew apart.

Love the oak bed in the C10. You should try Lyptus and red Mahogany stain. It will look like mahogany when done.

If you leave the Lyptus natural without stain it is Salmon colored.

Either way that stuff is Hard as Steel but works like butter.

There weren't nearly as many tuner options in 2004 for those trucks. My 2001 in the video above felt like it had more snort stock over the 2004. Odly enough the 2001 was rated at 340 HP and 455 TQ and the 2004 was 330 and 450 I think. They went to throttle by wire in 2003 so maybe thats where the differences come into play. If your 8.1 runs good I would think it would outrun a stock LBZ, but I never raced them. FYI, I bought both the 8.1's new and they both burnt a quart of oil every 3000-4000 miles. Keep us updated if you line them up, I'm very curious. The Alison behind the 8.1 shifts unbelievably well without all the diesel torque and defueling.

I had a 2001 8.1 ran good with tune, exhaust and filter popped on tube.
Mine burned oil also they replaced the intake seals and new updated bolts no more issues with oil.

Thanks jawless. May try that combo on another project. I've got 15 different stains on the shelf before I decided on this one.

666 Thanks. I did some googling after you said this. Apperantly it fixes most oil consumption. I guess the intake is shifting causing oil consumption. Especially if you redirect the pcv port. Some are welding a pipe to the port under the intake manifold.

Well I got some stuff sprayed last night. Came out decent. Flares and bumpers are going to get black spray. It's definitely not coming off now lol

Which gun are you using? I used the cheap 30 dollar one and it did ok. My hvlp didn't work to good with 2.2 tip. I'll probably buy the 80 dollar gun that has better reviews. Just currious on your technique.
