Just to clarify, the tenth digit of the vin is the year designation. The 8th digit is the engine designation. So an 06 truck with a 2 for the 8th digit is a 2006 LLY. It is confusing, because the true LLY trucks(2004.5&2005) use a 2 for their engine designation too. But we all know that a 06 LLY is actually an LBZ with unseen differences.
The other confusing part is build dates. GM releases new models so early sometimes that the build dates seem to overlap the model year prior.

Door tag is 06/04. Just a typical lly. I shall adjust the thread title accordingly

Shit happens. That dyslexia can be a bitch. Takes a bigger person to admit they were wrong, and shows your good character.

Let me ask this, since I’m not all too sure how the build dates coincide with actual vehicle models. Being that it was a June ‘04 truck, is it actually an 05 with the updated front end (newer grill and good design)?

If it was a Chevy, it should be that way but itís a gmc. I doesnít have a ďtall hoodĒ or different grill from the 03-04 trucks that I can tell but Iím not 100% up on the gmc trucks. I donít think they really got much change

That makes more sense then. I think the only change visually from 03-07 was door badges on a GMC

Thanks for clearing that up, James. I was hoping for something crazy, but I'm glad to know my years of swearing 06 LLYs are the same thing as an LBZ with a different tune weren't a fallacy.
