    LLY - Cracked piston

If you're positive the cap / bearings are square to the crank, probably not. But I would

    LLY - Cracked piston

Imagine that, GM tells you to measure it like every other mfg.

    LLY - Cracked piston

Yea that sounds like a great idea... Let's just change the measurement location until we get the numbers we like! Probably why it's not in any service manuals to do so

    LLY - Cracked piston

My career consisted of mainly inline engines, but we never rocked the pistons back and forth in the bore. Yes the pistons will "grow" a touch from higher temps, but with the short distance of the compression height it's a non issue IMO If you're worried about getting it too close, by all means...

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

Not as bad as you'd think! Head is only $170 ish. I can make you a helluva deal on one used

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

Why's everyone have a short 3/4" ratchet? My snappy has a 4ft handle

    02' LB7 Tow Pig Build

I was thinking the LMM jumped up to an 8 hole nozzle

    Another Broken Crank

Funny you should say that. It's either a love or hate relationship with KB, I'm not on the hate side personally

    Twins with Twins, Anyone?

Is changing the pump gear size really feasible at this point? You'd have to mount the pump further up correct?

    Another Broken Crank

Speaking of pistons, anyone have experience with the KB replacements for the Duramax? They have 16.8:1, 17.5:1, and stock compression height or -.010". Doesn't look like they have a "delipped" bowl as the Mahle, but they're cheaper than stock LB7s, and retain the pin offset

    Another Broken Crank

Yea don't think that we will be mad at you. Hell I've been dreaming of doing a budget bottom end for 8 years! But then you add up all the other stuff to put it to good use, and priorities change...

I may have missed it, but what did Exergy say about the first one?

    LLY - Cracked piston

How hard do you want to push it? And how many miles are you going to drive it? I wouldn't be scared to put it together with that piston clearance and ring gap on the high side unless it was a stock rebuild. Usually .0045" per bore inch is fine (top ring)

    LLY - Cracked piston

I could be mistaken, but I thought the aftermarket pistons had reliefs to clear the cooling nozzles for either RH or LH install. And for the rings, depends on which ring, and what style. Generally speaking any kind of marking is usually installed facing up, but if there's a back cut on the ring...

Help!! LB7 TCM work on LLY?

It needs to communicate with the FICM to run. Check your main connectors for the engine and FICM. In your first post, you said LLY swap. Is this a Lb7 to LLY conversion or a total engine transplant into a different vehicle?

    LLY - Cracked piston

You said it was balanced? Did you end up going to an aftermarket crank instead?

Help!! LB7 TCM work on LLY?

See, if you'd post information like this to start, we'd be further ahead in helping you along. Is it an active code or in the history? If the ECM is NOT communicating with the FICM, it should do as you described. You stated it will start with ether, but does it stay running?

New gen FASS pumps: 100 vs 165

Where was your filter mounted? I've had Kennedy twin pumps on mine since 2011, only had one problem last year. Pump wiring was fried on one. Took all of 10min to swap the pump and solder new wires
