    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

I went through various assortments of o-rings when that went bad a year ago. The injector cup o-ring thing is actually how I found this forum - someone had posted the same issues. I've now pre-ordered a dozen of them...just in case, haha.

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

Okay, water pump replaced. Had to do the bypass tube twice as I forgot I had injector cup o-rings the first time and use the AC Delco provided o-ring.. which promptly broken half when I put it in, didn't know this until I lost a gallon of coolant on the first startup. Doing initial warm up and...

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

Mm-hmm...these things will happen. Luckily had an injector cup o-ring which is what I used last time. This time I use the AC Delco provided o-ring and it's just too flimsy.

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

Oh son of a ******. I just got her fired up after 5-ish gallons of fresh dexcool...and whether it was my careless installation of it for the 5th time...or an improper o-ring from the fine folks at ACDelco...at any rate: the top of that bypass "y" pipe just started spraying like a cow pi$$ing...

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

So I hit just over 74 on my initial - actually landed at 80. I still marked the balancer at 3 peaks, one valley to the clockwise of my nut mark, and cranked to that mark. The last crank was "quite heavy" before I hit my mark. Am I good here? I'm convinced I could crank it at least one more...

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

Ok - so just so I'm clear...I get that nut up to 74ft lbs...mark a point on the bolt to the washer and balancer...crank to 3 points + 1 valley clockwise and that should get me at 260 (or 285...whatever it is) as recommended? I just want to be sure I am doing this right. I've heard terrible...

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

So I ended up having a 3/4" drive and 20" 3/4" breaker in stock at O'Really. $65 later and a pair of sore calves and we're loose. I had to gently and slowly pry bar the actual balancer off as well...I'm guessing a guy is going to need to grease that sucker up to get it back on with such...

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

Swapping the Water Pump out this morning. Tried yesterday...failed miserably on the wake of breaking a WHOLE MESS of 1/2" breaker bars and ratchets. I'm using the tool method, I'm about to put the 400lb. air impact on (hopefully don't have to pull the radiator to squeeze in there) it and see...

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

Ah. It's just that my 1/2" jobbers aren't keeping up. That makes sense. I had a little bourbon and sleep to weigh my options. I'm going off this AM to grab an air impact, it is short enough I can get it in there without pulling the radiator. I'll try that...if it doesn't fly I'll also pick...

    Holy harmonic balancer Batman!

Going to make this a quick post because I'm super pissed off. I'm not necessarily here for help but if anybody has a shoulder I can cry on that'd be great. Went to swap the water pump out today, broke everything down to harmonic balancer. Broke a half inch wrench, broke a 12-in breaker bar...

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

So I have yet to get it in the shop as we've been remodeling so the truck has been off to the side of the house. With Camping season coming quick (AGAIN) I am snagging quotes. Used Pete at Front Range last time - they are looking at $5k. That's Injectors...not knowing if we have ring issues...

LB7 Injectors - Anyone have receipts on this in the Colorado Springs/Front Range area?

Hey all. I am certain it's time for injectors...we are sitting at 230k on the '04 LB7 and my last two emissions reports have come back with Bank 5 and 7 "on their way out." I've held off as long as I could but I think it's time...getting a little blowby smoke and am starting to notice loss of...

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

Okay, so I'll have the opportunity to get it into the shop tomorrow morning for a legit testing but I did drop fluids this morning. No oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil. I thought maybe swapping sauces was going on in there but it doesn't look like anything is getting where it...

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

And perhaps you are on the right track. I was certainly hoping to run this for at least "years" from now. Whether that be two or five perhaps it's time to stop running down one off failures once a year.

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

I'll be in Kansas until Sunday evening but perhaps I'll try to catch you this week...super helpful man. And see vid below but yes: about as much out of the oil fill. Oil filter blow by

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

For sure Ros. I did not end up buying EFILive (because, you know, spent a $$$$$hittload on my key, haha). You make a valid point. My general assumption would be that they took a "good" look at the Pistons but I have no idea and didn't ask. If you'll recall I had our big 2-week Gunnison...

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

Ok Update: - Water Pump: Yes. It does look like I've got a brilliant orange bubble just below the weep, and no higher. Given that and where it's landing (everywhere when the skid plates are one) - I can only assume your assessment is correct. Damn I wish I had done that while they were in...

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

Yes RosWell - absolutely. So it's an '04 (LB7 obviously) with 237k on the clock. Kennedy Lift Pump, S&B CAI, Idaho Rob DSP5, PPE Boost Valve, that's about that. I've owned her for 3 years during which it's been my daily driver, though I've worked from home 80% of that time, and my 5th Wheel...

Smoke where I don't want it...Fried Piston? Injector?

Thanks in advance - I'm sweating it out a bit. Long story short: I noticed some coolant loss (IE: A puddle of it in my driveway this morning) and smoke coming from the engine bay at a red light on a 5-minute-away drive this afternoon. I got home, sprayed out the undercarriage and let dry to...

Colorado Springs - Dead in water - might need ATP Idaho Rob diagnostics - anyone?>

Hello - and thank you in advance. I'm hoping to peg the attention of someone in the Colorado Springs area that has a Scan II or EFI Live, etc. (AutoCal, whatever) who can check a tune that was installed on the truck when I got it. I believe it's an ATP tune from Idaho Rob based on the DSP5...
