Trans Swap

Hey guys!

I have a 2002 6.6 that was totaled out that we just had the Allison transmission rebuilt on and also had the rear end rebuilt. To say the least, I’m heart broken.

I have two OBS 2001s that need work. One needs a new trans and leaks fuel, so it was parked earlier this year.

Will the trans off my 2002 work for the 2001? Or am I looking at a costly head ache. I need a work truck.

Hate just just scrap all both trucks, we love them but that is looking more and more realistic at this point. Just looking for some advice.

Their the OBS duallys with the 6.5.

6.5 is not a Duramax. Allison wont retrofit.

They're titled as a 2001? Seems odd that they would be the older body with a 6.5. If the bodies are in good shape I'd take on a power train swap

As stated above, if it truly is a 6.5 then no you cannot swap them around as they aren't even close to the same. Are you sure they're not 2000 model year trucks?

It might be a 3500HD, in which case it would be the 6.5 diesel. those were made up till 2002
