Default 01 lb7 smokes bad, no power

I got this truck in pieces and just finally got it running the CEL isnt on I am new to diesels I assume it needs injectors is there anything else that may cause this and is there a way to DIY clean your injectors? I have access to an ultrasonic injector cleaner for car injectors

Although I'm far from the expert on this, relatively new learning my self...what color is the smoke? from my understand white smoke = injector problems, but black smoke can indicate other issues as well. In particular a lack of boost. The LB7s seem to have an issue with the steering lines rubbing through the charge air/boost tubes which are aluminum. (I can't remember which side (intake or discharge to the intercooler). I'm sure someone here who knows a lot more than me will correct if I'm wrong but if you have black smoke would check that first before you drop 2-3k on injectors.

It would smoke the worst when you lay on the throttle and you would have absolutely no power.

Its popping a overboost code I think p0234 I know I have the wrong turbo pressure sensor (map) I also know I have at least one bad injector it must be dumping fuel cause now it wont even start unless I hit it with ether how can I find which injector is leaking I was thinking about removing each injector one at a time and leaving them installed and capping the port on the rail then start the truck to see if it is still smoking will it hurt to run the injectors like this temporally

see if u can find a friend, a guy on the forum, or a shop with a tech II or other advanced scanner. it can tell u the balance rates and a bunch of other good stuff that can help pinpoint the problem. efi live works too for looking at injectors if i'm not mistaken.

ok so I found a old fuel line and made myself a cap I knew the leaky one was on the right bank so I just started at the front and un hooked the feed line for each injector and capped it for the first two primed it and it still wouldn't start when I got to the third one it primed the button got hard finally it never has yet and vroom it started my question is how long can I run it like this at idle it takes a few mins to start smoking

check your waste gate. a buddy of mine his waste gate blew out the tail pipe and had no power and smoked bad. the fix was a new turbo housing the waste gate baffle blew out where its welded to the lever for vacum.

Yea I'm just trying to figure out how long I can idle it this way I really dont see the issue aside from no fuel running thru the fuel injector may overheat it but who cares its junk any way

ok so I disconnected the boost sensor just till I get one and it runs rough and smokes still but it has the power back. so I went through and disconnected and capped each injector till it straitened out so I threw a spare I had laying around in and started it up it was running fine till I heard it start missing shaking and smoking right before my eyes it roached another injector so I had to start all over with the ghetto injector test I was dooing this time it took 7 cylinders to find the bad one but I guess its bad when I cap it the truck runs fine (shakes a little) and dosent smoke i have 2 more spares so I'll try one of them tommrow and I'm looking into a 2 micron filter setup also
