Does the lb7 have enough room to do the downpipe mod and will it make a big difference if i do it?

Threre is enough room for 3.5 inch pipe if you rout it right. I built the DP off of my S400 turbo with 3.5 and wrapped it and it works great. I did pull the sound mat off the firewall to do it though.

You only need 2 tools: duct tape and WD-40. Duct tape for when it moves and isnt supposed to, and WD-40 for when it don't move and should!

The ATS downpipe will fit an S400 and is 4" all the way through, that's what I run on my truck.

I also sell the ProFab true 3" high flow downpipe. If you want to keep the band clamp to the front pipe there is no reason to go bigger than 3". It comes ceramic coated black and runs $350:

He is also considering building a 3.5" downpipe that will delete the band clamp to the front pipe and flare to 4" at the end to meet up with a front pipe (after you cut the front bend off the front-pipe), so if you would rather have that speak up so we can let him know what the demand is.

True, but I like to build stuff, and thats what I had laying around. It seems to work fine, but for those that don't want or dont have the tools/ability the ATS pipe is a great option for sure.

The 3.5 to 4 sounds cool, What kind of gains have you guys noticed with the one pictured?

I have the 3" one pictured on my GMC , i felt really good gains for what the part is , my best guess was 20-25 hp by the SOTP meter , and flow was increased enough that i had to crank down my manual waste gate alot tighter because it was being blown open a whole lot sooner after the down pipe install I dont have an EGT gage in the truck so i dont know what the reduction was but my guess is they would be lower .

Thanks Trent, I think it is time to save for one of these, prob. after christmas.
EDIT: By the way, how much of a PITA was it to install?

Its a pain , not horrible if you have decent tools and a little bit of "gumption " , for really tight bolts get a small bottle jack and a good quality wrench or socket and put the bottle jack between the top of the firewall and the wrench , it will help you crack them loose . heat/torch helps sometimes too.
