Default Curt 15302 Install??

Hey guys so I bought a curt hitch for my 06 2500hd. I am going to install it today. And I am wondering what everyone has done with the factory electrical connection? The stock one is part of the hitch. Any ideas how to move it? It is a push and twist style lock so drilling a new hole would be difficult?

Just cut that one and put it on the new one. Or buy a new plug with a bracket.

I have looked everywhere for that bracket and can't find it. Cutting off a factory one and welding it is the only way I know of.

I bought this Hopkins plug that is a direct fit for our trailer wiring. It comes with a bracket that can be attached to the bottom of the bumper with self tapping screws. I'll grab a pic this afternoon. I didn't want to cut and weld the factory bracket and mess up the finish of the hitch.

I took a hole saw and cut a hole in the bumper just left of the licence plate and put in a nice metal one with a spring loaded flap. Its out of the way and not getting banged up. Fred

Default Curt 15302 Install??

I made a bracket when I built my hitch and added the 6 round plug for when working on other people's trailers I don't have to mess with an adapter.

Would it be possible to snap a few photos on the exhaust mounting side. I have a 5 inch MBRP and want to ensure it will clear before ordering. Thanks in advance

Here you go.

Mine just clears. I need to shorten the exhaust under the cab about 1.5" for a perfect fit.

I just installed mine today. I added extra back up lights and grounding straps. Install was very easy and fit perfectly. I just cut the old bracket off and rewelded it to the bumper. Good enough for now.

I like my Curt hitch it seams much stronger than any bumper hitch , look how far back it mounts to the frame , I guess thats why its rated so high . But I do know my OEM was junk !
