I am looking at picking up a Forced Inductions turbo pretty soon for my engine build.
I am pretty set on a S476 to try and make 1000hp at the wheels and still keep good street manners. Truck is in sig (built motor, built trans, J converter, dual 10mm pumps, 60% overs flowing 290mm3 @ 2800us/26ksi, ect). My question is what turbine wheel is best, the 87 or 92 wheel? Truck will be used as a DD when its warm, sled pull in "open" or "outlaw" style classes, and will hit the strip. Was looking at the 1.10 housing for both to help it spool up BUT also keep higher RPM flow.

I'll keep you posted, mine's close. billet 476/87/1.0. So not the 1.10 you are looking at but will be hitting about 4700 rpm. I wanted top end over spool so we will see what happens.

With 305/70R16 BFG AT KO2s, 3rd gear, and 3.73s I should be at 4700rpm=32mph. With 315/75R16, 3rd gear, and 3.73 I would be at 4400rpm=32mph. I don't know if I'll have the power to hang 4th. The goal originally was 4th, 3.73, and 305/70r16 @ 4100rpm=40mph.

Either 87 or 96. The 92 doesn’t work well. Mark said the spool with 96 is almost as good as the 87.

The though was that by staying 87mm that I can buy another charger (2.6SB or 2.5 map) and just do a turbo change quick at the track waiting to pull.

I ran that charger with a 87 and .90 housing. Had decent street manners. Converter and tuning will make or break that set up. I personally don't think it will get you a 1000hp unless you are on a forgiving dyno.

By my injectors flowing 290mm3 @ 2800us/26ksi it should go up when we tune the pumps to go to full pressure (well above 26ksi). That being said, I know not regearing will kill me if I can't run 4th gear. I don't think 32mph of wheel speed is enough for our open class due to the fact the sled is usually light. Being light I may be able to run 4th but I'll have to find out. Thank god for the 100ft rule haha. With my old setup (Danville 68mm stage 2r, single 10mm) I managed to snag 32-33mph wheel speed (4800-4900rpm) while getting 29mph ground speed on low tread 265/75r16 BFG so I should be close.

Where are u from bsankey? Most of my experience with Borg turbos is from sled pulling in a hot street setting. I currently help/tune/advise two different setups. A 475/96/1.0 LLY and a 480/87/1.0 lbz. I think you're on the right track about going with the 87 tw in a t4 housing. It's kind of the jack of all trades setup. Can spool great, but can make big power. In either a single or as a high pressure charger in compounds.
The 96 tw in a t4 housing can spool fine too, but I'm not sure it's going to out perform the same turbo with the 87. Probably going to be more expensive too because the t4 housings that are modified to fit are expensive and do not come on an off the shelf turbo. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

I’ve only got 60% overs now but plan to go to 200% as soon as money allows. I know the 76 will easily max out my injectors now and should make 1000-1100 with more fuel.

A friend of mine ran a 76/87/1.1 last year in his crew cab. Went 10.6 forgot his mph but at his 6800lb weight it put him at 1050 on fuel.

If it ends up running 5k in 3rd I can jump it into 4th on the next hook but with locker in the front and good eaton posi out back I don't think it will. Only one way to find out. The rpm difference in 3rd gear @ 32mph between 3.73 and 3.42 is 400rpm.
