Default Fitting a dmax into a 67 to 72 C10

Have quite messing with my truck for now and have put my attention into redoing the body and probably making it a short bed. I eventually want to put a duramax into it, so I was wondering what I should do to the firewall when the cab is getting redone. It has a sb350 in it now and probably will get a twinned 5.3 before the duramax, but I don't want to have to redo the firewall in two or three years.

if you're keeping the allison behind it the firewall and tunnel will need some serious work over the current setup.

Not sure how you'll get around redoing the firewall unless you've got a dummy to do mockup.

It probably will be a 4L80E. I just was wanting to know if brett or someone who has done one has bothered to mess with there firewalls. There is lots of room under the hood, so I don't have to worry about making it bigger.

Brett's is heavily modified IIRC. Ol' dude over on CompD doing the body swap didn't modify his at all IIRC. Brett probably did to move engine back for weight bias for drag racing if I were guessing.

I saw that swap on CompD and it looks good. If there any spots that are a good idea to redo for future turbo piping I want to do it now, while the cab is off and since my new cab is completely gutted.

Also the cab I just got is a manual cab, how well to you think a six speed T56 or what ever is in the newer cars hold up with a lot of torque.

You can do it without modifying the firewall. On my dads blazer that we are doing right now we cut out the firewall just like mine then ended up welding it all back in because we were able to set the engine far enough forward. We are using electric fans on his for clearance. On mine we modified the firewall so we could mount the engine as far back as possible. If you look at the trucks Facebook page you can see what we had to do to the frame. I don't have any pictures up yet of the new frame I did last winter, just the old frame.

They won't, you'll murder any manual I can think of besides one that came stock behind a diesel.

Not really yet, the project has changed direction a couple times and is back to a toss up between a old school SBC/BBC or duramax. This is about as far as I got with the old chassis. On a 2WD it looks like the engine cross member will need to be notched to get some extra forward as well as lower down to clearance. If you keep the Allison, you will need a High hump transmission cover, modified transmission tunnel or a body lift.

So I have a 72 k10 With a high hump transmission tunnel. I got it for nothing and was not sure what to do with it. The duramax idea got me excited to work on it after Iím done with my 67 c10.

I understand that the easier way to do the swap is to do a 2500HD chassis swap but I wanted to stick to with the original k10 frame.
