What type of oil should I use to break in my built engine?

I just used delo400 in both of mine. The first motor came apart and looked flawless

Just drive it. Don't beat it too hard and try and fluctuate throttle position. I changed my oil at 500 and 1000 miles.

Whatever oil you're going to use later and after 500 miles change the oil and giver her hell. Break it in how you're going to drive it. Then change again at 1000 more. Get it nice and hot to seat the rings

Right on. When you guys filled your engine first how did you guys push oil to the crankcase and through all ports? Just put a socket on an impact and spin the pump by the shaft till I get oil in the crankcase?

Hit the starter with the FICM unplugged on my LB7

I changed the oil 5 times in 500 miles then every 1000 miles after.

Id use an oil with a higher % of zinc in it for initial break-in.

You don't have a FICM... You need something like thishttps://www.summitracing.com/parts/m...FRB0fgodfVEBvQ
Or build one out of heavy PVC pipe.

Delo 400 reg dino oil in each engine on first start up. i crank till a mechanical gauge at the last main port shows pressure, the start it.

engine is then ran and checked for leaks till it reaches operating temp. If a new cam is put in, its broke in via the instructions that came with. after that, let it cool and then take it for a drive. let everything warm up and give it a couple WOT runs on a decent sized good tune. it doesnt bother me one bit cause i know the exact specs inside that motor and i want those damn rings to seat!

go 500 miles, change oil and cut open oil filter looking for sparkly things. if all is good, new oil and off ya go!
