You guys are more excited about this than I am.

Raymer, thanks for that link. We have something similar here. I'll keep my eye on those.

if you set it up strictly for racing, could you relocate radiator to bed. similar to offroad race trucks or go to smaller radiator. that might give more room for turbos. think i would cover bed and mount spoiler/wing, used to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood in s-15 and could tell traction difference over 50mph. just some thoughts. its easy to get excited when you don't have to fund it.

I found a 1/2 ton truck up near Belding in great shape, Julian...they want $2850 for it. Could probably get it for $2300. I dunno...still need a drivetrain for my truck first.

I have been considering the same Tom , I have a 2004 1/2 ton 2wd ext cab sort bed that I picked up this year, I could "merg" the race truck and the other one with 0 parts needed , I would have to figure out how much weight loss I would gain to see if it would be worth it but ......................................

This would be a bad ass truck! If it was me I would do the 2500HD and back half the rear. Tube frame, 4 link on air bags or coil overs and a short bed. It would be much more work to swap all this over to a half ton. Better yet build a full tube frame from the front clip back. You would drop a lot of weight and be very rigid.

I already did the gutted 3/4 ton , mines pretty light ( 5500 lb ext cab ) , could be lighter with same concept and different design with some chromally , but i would like to be 4600 lbs ( lightest allowed per rule book for Pro street rule book ) and think the 1/2 ton chassis would do it , plus I could swap drive train with alooot less time than building custom chassis, this year I am choosing the easy route to go faster ....................... alot more HP if that fails the torch is coming back out .

~1400lbs. I think typical 4.8/4L60 would be about ~800?
