Well.....I kinda Fucxed some shit up last weekend.....Dropped the motor from about 16" up while getting it onto the stand.....Broke a wheel off the hoist, broke the oil pump, dinged the oil pan rail....Thank god the pan or the turbo and piping werent on it or they would be junk and have to refab them all......a Chain Link broke on the lift chain pulling the motor for its final assembly......Lets just say I wasn't happy. Ordered a new pump and hope to have it all back together this weekend and try to wire and fire in the next week or so. (Fingers Crossed)

Look at the bright side. No part of you or anyone else was under it when it let go.

Yow. That size chain may work for an LS, but not for a 700lb Dmax. It sucks cost-wise, but parts can be replaced. Glad you are ok, Matt.

TYhat chain has lifted no less than 40 fully dressed DMaxes.....We didnt expect it to break but I agree its a smaller chain. No one was hurt and I think the motor will live....But yeah....I was kind of dumbfounded when it happened.....Just kinda stared for a second...like WTF.

Generally you can tell by looking at a chain if it's getting ready to break. The links start to stretch, right before they break they will almost have a peanut shape. All it take is just one link to be on the weak side. That is why most of the time people don't use chains for lifting things. You have to inspect every link.
