Default This is why you block your EGR

My truck only had 30,000 miles when I blocked my EGR. There is about a 1/8 inch of soot built up. Imagine if the truck had more miles.

No I live in San Francisco the temp is between 60 to 75 year around. When I take my truck out is is a minimum of 10 miles one way and I drive my truck hard.

Unfortunately that stuff is in the heads as well.

I wonder if something can be used to break it up while the engine is running, perhaps some water meth for a while would clean it out ???

When I pull my motor for the build it will all be gone. This is why people should block the EGR the day they get there truck.

I am not sure how to get it out of the motor. I cleaned the intake runner in my solvant tank it that crap us hard to get out. I do not think anything will get that crap off out of the runners and the valves whale the engine in together.

Seen some 6.0 Fords that were completly closed off....whole intake manifolds were pulled and hot tanked to clean them out.
Rediculous people have to deal with this on any diesel.

VW's have been having bad issues with it as well.

I believe that motor vac makes an intake cleaner ystem that is used to fog the intake system. I have not used personally but I have heard it works well. The cleaning agent is claimed to break up the build up and remove it while the engine is running.

Carb cleaner will cut the soot.

Without the oil from the PCV, the soot does not build up nearly as bad.
