    Air Compressor

Quincy QT-54. Less than $1500, made in the U.S.A., and it has a 50,000 hour advertised pump life, vs 8,000 hours for a comparable IR. For home/small shop use, I don't believe you can beat it.

    Danville EFI live?

Mark tuned my truck a few years back, and it was a great experience. Top notch service, and it was neat to sit there and talk shop with him while he was working on the tunes. I got the shop tour, and everyone was pleasant, upbeat, and genuinely friendly. Mark, Larry, and the rest of the...

Replacing steering gear and pitman arm should I also install new idler arm and pivot

I would replace it. If I remember correctly, the parts all superseded to the 4 groove set up. I was told that you must have matching parts, because they changed the design. Meaning that a 4 groove pitman arm won't work properly with a 3 groove idler.

    LML Torque Lug Nuts

I agree....always use a torque wrench. Back in my younger days, I always rattled them tight with an impact. Then I had my front wheel come off while driving. By over tightening my lug nuts repeatedly, it stressed the studs, and they broke off. Lesson learned. :o

    Beer of the nite

I've been on a stout and porter kick for the last few months, and have been trying many from local brewers. So far, its been Bells Porter and stout, and Atwater brewery java porter or decadent chocolate stout. I have a six pack of Bells Special Double Cream Stout for tonight.

    2wd built allison?

Make sure you do it with the trans standing on end with the bellhousing on a flat surface. Mike L walked me thru this years ago. Pretty simple if you pay attention and are careful.

    Trans leak question

Merchant would be the guy to go see if you want an allison expert to check it out. I would start by thoroughly cleaning the underside of the truck so you can pinpoint the origin of the leak. The vent that the fluid was pushed out of when the trans was over filled is located near the back...

    heated fuel sump

Look at a bowl heater for a 7.3 powerstroke. They are readily available thru Dorman, and I bet the size is very close to the size of the sump. They are immersed in fuel on the Fords, so maybe one could be secured to the bottom of the sump on the inside. Just have to get some fuel-proof...

    COTNP feedback

Henry is a great guy to deal with. Years ago, he sourced all the components I needed to install a turbo that I purchased used. He did all the legwork, talked to me at length over the phone after business hours, and gave me a great price. His customer service was top notch, and I felt like I...

what to do, what to do..

Raw gets my vote. Nothing says you mean business like some nice stainless or aluminum plumbing with pretty welds holding it all together.

The Cheetah SCS shifters are the typical go-to shifter for serious business. No frills, looks terrible, but they work fantastic.

    First 11 sec pass

Hahaha! That was very strange, I have to admit. I clicked this thread more or less at random, and looked at the dyno sheet just for kicks....then I see my last name! I'm quite sure that we share no relation, but its pretty cool to know that there are more Misners out there! lol
