They attempted to sell the brand to a Chinese company, that was back when they were going through bankruptcy resettlement and what not, but the deal fell through.
Their oil additives are pointless for a Duramax, but their fuel additives are pretty good. I switch it up between Optilube and Hot Shots, they work equally well for me.
I'm with you on keeping the stock filter head in place, it's extra insurance on the cheap.
Have you seen the video that FASS released to showcase their new style water separator? The standard water separators definitely allow a good bit of water through. That new water separator that FASS has...
I use the style without the heating element, one less thing to leak. Not sure how effective that heater is anyway and I don't need it here in Florida even if it did work good.
I am sure the BDS coil-over rides awesome, but I don't personally have any experience with it. I can say that a Zone 6" lift turned down rides great. I am running the Zone lift with 3" blocks in the rear and the front turned down to level it out, nice flat angles up front, that's with 35x12.5s.
That's a good deal. I know Stanley bought them out recently, last year I think, Stanley isn't anything special, but they do own Proto and Mac Tools, so they know how to run a good tool company.
Do they still have a lifetime warranty?
They are a straight replacement, no need to mod anything at all.
No idea when they are coming out, I've been waiting for about 6 months now. On their website it just says coming soon.
For engine mounts I would just bolt the stock style, that will keep it from pulling apart and keep the...
You are stuck with the vibrations with Prothane mounts. Go with some Dorman mounts or wait for the S&B mounts to come out. I replaced my rears with the GMT900 mounts as well, biding my time on the other ones until the S&B mounts are released.
I've had good luck with the Mevotech TTX ball joints. The only problem I've had is with an upper, went to put the castle nut on and it stripped the threads right off the stud, wasn't cross threaded or anything. Very odd, I assume it was some hardening issue.
Same thing happened to me and it was also the MAF. I also had no CEL codes when I checked it with the tune installed, when I switched back to the stock tune it popped codes. I think the tunes change the MAF tables enough that it won't trigger a CEL, just a guess. But for anyone in the future...
I am running the Terrain Pro. Came from KO2s, these are a good bit cheaper, run just as good in the dirt and light mud, and look like they are going to last way longer. No problems with balancing for me.
I pull in 5th for the most part, but I'm also on 35's with stock gears, so pulling in 5th helps me stay in the power band. Imo, the rule of thumb to go by is if it's lugging in 6th then manually shift it down to 5th.
I only got 32k out of my KO2s. I just replaced them with some cheap Amp Terrain Pro A/Ts, they look nearly identical and so far perform just as well, but they have a 60k mile warranty, so hopefully they last me more than 2 1/2 years.
