P0700 and P0877 while towing heavy and typically uphill

Hey Guys, Had a p0700 which is a generic code I know. Every time it happened was when I was towing heavy and typically uphill. I kept resetting the CEL via my CTS so I could keep going not realizing it would "reset" on its own. I chased cheap fuel pressure fixes as I couldn't read the code...

cutting oil filter open after engine build

Hey Guys, I just changed my oil after the first 500 miles after the build. I've read that I should cut the filter open and inspect it. I assume I'm looking for metallic looking debris. Do I just take a hacksaw to it? I would think this would create metal pieces throughout that I could confuse...

    She's alive! - Thanks Everyone! - 1 last question

First, thank you all for the help! I couldn't have done it without the resources here! Finally got her started. Sort of funny how you say "almost there, just a couple more hours" and it's really a day more. Or maybe I just forgot how much work it was. All in all not a "hard" job but time...

Oil priming after build - leave glow plugs out?

Hey Guys, So it's been a slow process (primarily because of me) but I have the engine about ready to go back in. The machine shop said to leave the glow plugs out so I don't build pressure while I'm cranking the engine to oil prime it. I've read here to just leave the bail connectors undone...

    engine transport cradle?

Hey Guys, When I took my engine down to the shop I simply used a tire. When I pick it up it will be nice and painted, etc. I'm looking to build a cradle similar to the picture I attached. Since i don't have my engine handy I'm hoping to get some dimensions from you guys. I need to know the...

Engine is about ready to go back in - More ?s

A quick update first. I decided to go with essentially a factory rebuild w/ de-lipped LB7 pistons. After reading through the threads here I decided I couldn't realistically (financially) get to my HP goals AND still be able to to tow 20k pounds reliably. Felt like I'd be chasing my tail down a...

She's out! - Hole in piston - cylinder walls look good

Well we got the engine out. Id' guess it took 14-15 hours with 4-5 of those on the torque converter bolts and 3 upper bell housing bolts. All in all it wasn't that bad of a job but there is a learning curve for sure. Helps if you've done a water pump before because you already know how to take...

Injector testing/balance rates with blown engine?

So blew my stock engine, 0 compression and heavy blow by. I assume it's a cracked piston. I'm a little concerned an injector may have been a contributing factor but I'm not sure. Before we went on our summer trip my balance rates looked fine. I know I can send the injectors off for bench testing...

    600-650HP LBZ Build - Misc Questions - I'm a Virgin!

Hello Everyone, First, thanks for providing such a great resource for "normal" guys like me to attempt something like this. I've done a fair amount of wrenching but nothing like this. So I blew my LBZ pulling a 21k 5th wheel a week or so ago. I have decided to have the motor rebuilt. I’m...
