P0700 and P0877 while towing heavy and typically uphill

I honestly wouldn't be opposed to that. I would crap little green apples if it did it after a build though. Don't you think if it was electrical it would be more consistently doing it? Is there something mechanical that can be causing a pressure issue on that switch? I've read of a couple guys...

P0700 and P0877 while towing heavy and typically uphill

Thanks for the info Ron. Ended up taking it to a shop. They can't figure it out and says everything "looks good". I have no damn idea what to do now.

P0700 and P0877 while towing heavy and typically uphill

Still playing hell with this. Changed the 20 pin pass through connector on the tranny as it was leaking and I thought it might have been shorting. Also changed the PSM, no dice. It's always went into limp mode with the p0877 code while towing and it does it so inconsistently. Any thing else...

P0700 and P0877 while towing heavy and typically uphill

Thought I was somewhat clear on what I do, "towing heavy when it acts up and typically uphill". It's done it towing 17k and done it towing 28k. It doesn't act up empty or even hauling 3200lbs in the bed. I know I'm towing over ratings. If the answer is "I need a new truck", or "time to get the...

I guess that might be helpful. 2006 LBZ

P0700 and P0877 while towing heavy and typically uphill

Hey Guys, Had a p0700 which is a generic code I know. Every time it happened was when I was towing heavy and typically uphill. I kept resetting the CEL via my CTS so I could keep going not realizing it would "reset" on its own. I chased cheap fuel pressure fixes as I couldn't read the code...

    Oil cooling

Ordered the KD fan clutch. I'll let everyone know how that goes. I'll definitely switch to synthetic oil after break in to help as I have a feeling I won't be able to get oil temps below 230 pulling hills. I'm not burning any oil. Is it cool to switch to synthetic?

    Oil cooling

I hear ya. That little plastic "scoop" piece below the radiator. To answer your other questions I missed. I have efilive with idaho rob tunes. It was on 2 which should be heavy tow. I like the turbo brake option but not if it causes my truck to overheat. T-stats were changed with new GM...

    Oil cooling

Everything seems to be above the bumper cooling wise. Not sure how the bumper is blocking anything. Maybe my fan clutch isn't engaging soon enough? I notice when it does come on it cools things down in a hurry. When I was trying to figure out cooling issues last year, while on the road, I...

    Oil cooling

This....there is no way I'd get that cooler in the bumper and I have a bigger road armor bumper. I know horizontal isn't ideal but that's why I did one with a fan. The vertical options left the cooler hanging below the frame. Maybe I can make scoop or something to try and get some air flow...

    Oil cooling

I think the Derale cooler is using a spal fan. I'll double check when I get home. The cooler is mounted under the truck in a horizontal position. Have it on a 200 degree temp switch with a manual switch override incase, for some reason, I didn't want the fan running. Thanks,

    Oil cooling

265 degree oil temp while towing! Hey Guys, So I recently had my engine rebuilt after burning a hole in a piston. I pull a 18-21k toy hauler so I added an external oil cooler. I went with a Derale 40 row cooler w/ an 800 CFM fan. I used the adapter from Mocal, 12an fittings and hose. My temp...

cutting oil filter open after engine build

I'll give this a shot. Thank you. Do I just need to inspect the first filter after break in? I've read to expect potential metallics because of the rings seating, etc. If that's expected what exactly am i looking for?

cutting oil filter open after engine build

Hey Guys, I just changed my oil after the first 500 miles after the build. I've read that I should cut the filter open and inspect it. I assume I'm looking for metallic looking debris. Do I just take a hacksaw to it? I would think this would create metal pieces throughout that I could confuse...

    She's alive! - Thanks Everyone! - 1 last question

Said glow plug meant injectors. It was a long day and my brain isn't quite rebooted yet. I imagine my flow rates are all different now because I had my injectors cleaned/serviced VS buying remans/new ones? In either case I didn't pay attention when I took them out. Then i read about the flow...

Thanks for the reply. I didn't note which glow plug came out of which cyl when I removed them though..... So, same parts different holes.

First, thank you all for the help! I couldn't have done it without the resources here! Finally got her started. Sort of funny how you say "almost there, just a couple more hours" and it's really a day more. Or maybe I just forgot how much work it was. All in all not a "hard" job but time...

Oil priming after build - leave glow plugs out?

Where does the breather come from/go to? Must have fell off because I noticed nothing when I removed it.

Oil priming after build - leave glow plugs out?

I do have another question. The bracket that's at the top of the bellhousing. It goes on the stud of that god awful top BH bolt. Does it serve any purpose? I can't see any and I'd rather save the patience for something else. I guess I'm being lazy... Thanks,

Oil priming after build - leave glow plugs out?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think the only reason I considered reusing the torque converter bolts is because I believe I read Mike L said it was okay to reuse. I know new is probably preferably but these aren't stretch bolts or anything so I'll reuse them. As for the loctite I'm...
