I think the EGR difference is the bypass valve. Or lack-of for that matter. LGH have no bypass valve at all but this will have no affect on egr kits interchanging.

AAM are stronger. Sled pullers have proven this but unfortunately aam has discontinued the ratios most commonly used in pulling. I think they still make 3.42 3.73 & 4.10

You could regear to 3.42's. It will allow it to be sensible to drive on the highway but give you some more wheel speed while pulling. 4.56's are probably ideal but would be way too low for highway...
