Does anyone know if the SS Bumper cover or the real SS Bumper itself allow you to utilize your factory fog lights and tow hooks or do things line up differrently when put on a classic bodystyle 4x4?

I don't think you can use the tow hooks, but I think you can use the factory fog lights. They might have to move; I can't remember for sure.

FYI the factory SS bumper is a cover also.

Since my truck had a run-in with a tree/deer, Im redoing my truck all new and custom.... should fit, dont think theres a differance beteween 1500-2500-3500 bodywork.
Cant use the towhooks but the fog's yes, they can shine through the bumper vents with a bracket mod. Street Scene makes an "SS" Urethane cover but IMO it stickes out too far and looks a lil off. I want the factory one myself. One thing ive been thinking about though, the HD trucks (us) have a bumper opening in the front tag area but the SS covers don't, not sure it it will be a problem or not? I have the factory part #'s somewhere for the true GM SS stuff and thats what id really like to do if it wont swallow my wallet, if not I'm gettin all new stock stuff and painting it, anf filling tag holes and make stainless mesh inserts for fog light pockets and might fill the tow hook holes and ditch them. Theres some other bumper cover choices aftermarket but i dont like them myself. If anyone else has more info on it, I'd like to know too.

Mines gonna be a whole new differant ride! Stay tuned!:D

If you go with the stock SS bumper, you'll have to get a 1/2 ton bumper or modify your stock bumper with a 1/2 ton bumper top cap, then raise it to fill the gap. I looked into doing it a while back.

I think it would look cool, but I would NEVER get rid of my tow hooks.

Since we're on the SS subject. Will the grill out of an SS fit the classic body style HD's?

Yes. The 1/2 tons changed in 06. I found a Red one on Ebay for my 05. I have seen 03-04's w/ them also.

I didn't do an SS bumper but I raised my GMC bumper to get rid of the black textured part. It was a pain to do IMHO but I think how it looks is worth it. I lost my tow hooks but I'm going to fab up some d-rings for this winter. :)
Makes it look like it sits a lot higher as well

Its because the HD's frame is taller than the 1500's

I've never used my tow hooks  Not even on my LB7 knock on wood.

I thought it was just because our trucks had a body lift from the factory and the 1500s dont?

I think they look good with the SS. There must be a way to incorporate soom sort of tow hook system. Obviously you can't use the stockers, but maybe some sort of pop-out plug with square tubing in behind to slide a reciever in.........;)

The HD's (HVY rpo) have a taller frame. GM calls it a "body raise". Yes the body is "raised" from the 1500's, but its not via a simple body lift in the way we think of it (pucks, etc), its because of the taller frame.
