<LI type=1>Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the gear teeth and the oil pump housing. The production clearance is 0.125-0.221 mm (0.0049-0.0087 in) and the service limit is 0.221 mm (0.0087 in). <LI type=1>Replace the oil pump assembly if the clearance exceeds the service limit.

<LI type=1>Install the oil pump gear cover to the oil pump assembly. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Install the oil pump gear cover bolts. Tighten
Tighten the oil pump gear cover bolts to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).
