Here are a few video's of the TapShifter in operation on an 04.5 LLY.

It allows you to have the 2006 shifter in your truck and tap up and down at will.

It also gives the 2001-2002 guys an easy way to add the ODLO function to their rig as well!

Nice, are you just supposed to remember what gear your are in though?

I dont suppose you would be willing to say what microcontroller/software you use Brayden? Ive been reading about them for year or two but wasnt sure which one would be easy to teach myself and which one would be capable of the logic sequence/counting... with my luck id spend 100 bucks on one and then find its not capable of doing this. :(

I was leaning towards the PICAXE

In the video it shows an icon in the cluster showing what gear it is in.

So you need a shift lever out of an 06+? Does the turbo brake have any part of the tap shift equation?

Never mind my first question, I just re-read your original post Brayden. Are you selling a kit with the shifter? Or are you selling the hardware and or programing and the consumer finds the shifter? Thanks.

Complete kit with shifter, prebent to fit your column. I might add this is completely plug and play and pulls it's power from the TCM so all you have to plug in are connectors. The 2001-2002 trucks will have one pin to install in the TCM if they want ODLO to work.

The PRNDL moves with each tap.. So you don't have to remember what gear you're in.

I'd like to see a better picture of the dash icon. Does this make it shift instantly or the same as the new truck?

You can't go wrong with Freescale. Our next gen boards will feature CAN and bluetooth on board for even more features.

and if we already have the shifter? :p:

any possibility for a cheaper one without the plug and play connectors and stuff?

Brayden
01-19-2010, 09:10 PM
There will be a discount without the shifter. They're all going to be plug and play because the board uses the TCM connectors.

us 06+ guy stake that manual shifting for granted. reading this makes me want to use it more often

How would this work with a Suncoast 6 Speed Conversion Kit on my 05 LLY?

Yes it will work fine. You'll just get a jump from 6-4 on the first tap unless you hit the tow haul button which jumps down to 5th IIRC.

I have always wanted this on my lb7. Any more video or news on how it drives? Meaning if I'm in drive can I use it or do I have to be in tow haul? Does it automatically put you in tow haul so the converter is locked?

Not sure I completely understand the question, but it works just like the 06+, except for the dash. The dash will highlight D when you are in 5th or 4th, for 03-05 users the ODLO light will illuminate in when 4th gear (or lower) is selected, for 01-02 users an LED will illuminate when 4th gear (or lower) is selected. The dash will highlight 3 when 3rd gear is selected, 2 when 2nd is selected.......

Think of it as manually shifting the lever, but now you can do it with a push of a button rather than having to move the shift lever.

The 06+ shifters still have the tow haul button so you can chose whichever you want to use as in tow haul or not plus have the tap shift.
