I am wanting to do a system in my truck and dont know the first thing about them. I have a 500w amp from the system in my old truck. So I just need 2 10" subs as I am going to build a box. I also need whatever it is that hooks up the amp to the factory radio.
I am not going all out here just wanting a little thump to my music while spending the least money possible.

I have 2 RE 10's in a bedlined box behind the rear seat, Sounds decent, and again like you I didn't want all out, just a little better sound. I have it connected through a PAC adapter to the stock BOSE stereo, and it sounds great in my opinion. If I wasn't so busy at school I would say you could drop my Mooresville TNT one Thurs and listen to it, but I probably won't be out there until summer.

I have a set of 12s and an amp I'll selling. Kicker Comp CVRs and a 1000watt Lanzar amp. Just figured I'd throw it out there.

Define budget? :D
One of the best sounding subs for the money would be the Alpine Type R, can be had for 115.00 from ebay.
IMO..

I was hoping to keep it under 150 bucks for two subs

search for kicker comps VR's. I bought mine off ebay about 2 years ago for pretty cheap and they are a great sub.

Cornell also has RE, but a bigger one. These are what I have and I have never had a better sounding sub than these so far, I was really impressed for the price, and I have had Kicker, JL, MTX, (as well as some shitty ones, audiobahn, sony, etc.)

Ever heard the sound of JL Audio W7 10 or W7 12? I don't even like "Sound Sytems" the Bose system in my truck is perfect for me. But those are hands down the nicest sub I have ever heard, honestly you could get away with 1 10 JL W7 with a 500 mono amp and be done with it... But if your trying to go under the back seat then JL W0v2 are decent

I second the JL's. It's what I run and they sound very nice. On a budget, then just get some PYLE's.

yeah jls are nice but overrated. you pay more for the name then anything. travis i told you for 150 dollars your going to end up with junk that sounds like junk. hes right for budget builds your looking at pyles, or jenson, just my opinion.

I thought my Treo subs were pretty good. They are made here in Omaha and have a warranty that is a "no fault no hassle" type deal.

I think you'd be happy with one JL or Alpine Type R. Do that if you're on a budget. I had kickers Comps and Solo Barics and i didn't think they touched the Type R or JL. I have a Comp under my back seat now but my amp blew.

Most people know me for being an Alpine guy but if you are looking for cheap Alpine and JL are not on the list.
With that said in the sub would you do get what you pay for.
You say you have a 500watt amp is that RMS? and is it a mono D-Class or a 2 or 4 channel? If you can post the full name of it with the model number that will help.
Are you looking for shallow are full subs?
For the out puts get the PAC adapter it is the best I have found out there.
For subs well un till I know what you have for an amp I can not look into it.
